Edgar Beery joined the Annandale Lions Club on April 1, 1962, and was a member until his death.  Lion Edgar served as an officer and director of the Club for many years, and served as Club President in 1968-69.  For several decades, meetings of the Board of Directors were held in his offices.  He was awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship, the highest honor that can be awarded by Lions Club International.  It was a privilege to know and serve with Lion Edgar.

EDGAR CARROLL BEERY, JR.

EDGAR CARROLL BEERY, JR., of Pawleys Island, SC, died Sunday, February 11, 2007 in South Carolina. Mr. Beery was born August 7, 1919 in Washington, DC, a son of the late Edgar Carroll Beery and Edna Aldhizer Beery. He grew up in Washington, DC and then later moved to Virginia.

Mr. Beery was a graduate of the Catholic University School of Architecture and a US Navy Veteran of WWII. He founded and was a retired partner of the BeeryRio architecture firm. Mr. Beery was instrumental in advancing education in architecture in the US and was a Fellow Emeritus, American Institute of Architecture.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane Stanton and his second wife, Irene B. Shubart. Survivors include his wife, Mona Beery; two sons, Edgar C. Beery, III of VA, Mark Beery of FL; two daughters, Carol Hall of VA, Marilyn Beery of DC; three step children, Thomas, James and Millie; four grandchildren; and a brother, Rumsey Beery of VA. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, February 16, 2007 at St. Paul's Waccamaw United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 15, 2007 at GOLDFINCH FUNERAL HOME, Litchfield-Pawleys Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Paul's Waccamaw United Methodist Church, 180 St. Pauls Place, Pawleys Island, SC 29585.
