ART FEARING
The Annandale Lions Club will conduct a
memorial service for Lion Art Fearing on Wednesday, June 29 at
1:30 PM at the Little River United Church of Christ, 8410 Little
River Turnpike, Annandale, VA 22003. Lion Art was a member of the
Annandale Lions Club for many years, served the club in numerous
leadership positions, and was active in its service projects. We offer our deep
sympathy to his family for their loss but are also thankful for
having known and worked with Art to make this community a better
place.
Lion Art first joined the Lions organization
in 1966 in Killeen, Texas. In December 1975, he helped form the
Alexandria VA Bicentennial Lions Club, where he served as a
president. He transferred to the Annandale Lions Club in March
1980 and over the next 25 years he not only served our club in
several leadership positions but was also an active participant in
our service projects and fellowship activities. He was our
representative to the Annandale Interservice Council of the
Chamber of Commerce. While on the Council, he served as its
Treasurer for many years and also coordinated the annual
Thanksgiving dinner, which was held at the Salvation Armys
rehabilitation facility. He was also instrumental in arranging for
the Lions to receive used hearing aids from the Walter Reed
Medical Center for refurbishment and reissue to the needy of the
community.
In recognition of his lifelong service to the community , Lion Art
was awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship in 1995.
